Written Off
"They will never come to church!” Have you ever found yourself making that statement? Have you been around a culture where people or even groups of people are "written off?" It's easy to in- vite some groups or people, but others we can give up on. If we are real honest, someone could have said these sentences about us - especially Paul in the Bible. In contrast to the two commands of Christ, the Pharisees had developed a system of 613 Old Testament laws, 365 negative com- mands and 248 positive laws and built an oral teaching above those laws called the “Talmud.” By the time Christ came it had produced a heartless, cold, and arrogant brand of righteousness that wrote off many people from coming to God.
